Welcome, I am Ms. French. I am so excited to be a Cobra this year at Kirkwood. I grew up in Rochester, NY but moved to Tennessee to finish college. I earned my BS degree in Art Education at UT Chattanooga and I earned my MA degree in Art Education at Western Kentucky Kentucky University. I have been teaching art since 1996 and I have been with the Clarksville School System since 1997. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, traveling, painting, and playing with my dog, Briscoe. I look forward to all that we will create together.

Elementary art is full of experimentation and exploration. For lower grades, we will be focusing on the art elements and experimenting with different supplies and processes. The upper grades will have more choices with art styles, media, and open ended projects.

In the art room, the following expectations will ensure a safe and productive space to create.

  • Follow directions quickly.
  • Raise your hand for permission to speak.
  • Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat.
  • Make smart choices.
  • Make your dear teacher happy.

We do tend to get messy in the art room. Students are welcome to bring in a smock or over-sized shirt to keep in their classroom and wear to art. I also encourage students to not wear their best clothes on art days.
